Youth-Owned Schools and Community Farms Program.

We establish youth-owned schools or community livestock, aquaculture and crops farms. Through this hands-on and peer learning process, we tackle youth unemployment by imparting on young people, especially girls aged 15-35 years old, practical and intensive techniques, skills and knowledge, within 3 to 9 months, on several aquaculture, livestock rearing and crops cultivation approaches, to enable them to set up their own businesses.

Beyond the practical and intensive aquaculture, livestock rearing and crop cultivation skills, our agribusiness incubation staff uses a 10 part module Rural Entrepreneurship Venture Creation and Experiential Learning (REVCEL) Training Curriculum developed by Venture Creation for All, to teach these young people, transforming them into confident entrepreneurs. The modules are:

Module 1: “Agriculture as a Business” to strengthen farmer’s business ideas.

Module 2: Developing a business plan.

Module 3: Developing a business model.

Module 4: Analyzing and identifying opportunities within the value chain.

Module 5: Markets, marketing and segmenting your markets.

Module 6: Communication, ICT, campaigns, advertisements and branding.

Module 7: Identifying your customer and your competition.

Module 8: Your Farm Product.

Module 9: Creating a functional team with clearly specified roles and responsibilities.

Module 10: The business plan and engaging investors.

The youths manage the schools or community livestock and crop farms entirely, sell the farm products, place their revenue in a Bank Savings Account, and use the profit to grant themselves loans  to establish similar gardens at home, earn income and become self-employed.
